Manufacturing Data Engine
The Manufacturing Data Engine (MDE) is Google Cloud's solution for processing, contextualizing, and storing manufacturing data. It takes raw data from machines and sensors and organizes it with context, such as which line, asset, or product it came from, so it can be analyzed and used for AI.
Raw factory data is usually a stream of tag values with little meaning on its own. MDE adds context and structure to that data and stores it in Google Cloud, where it can feed dashboards, analytics, and machine learning models.
For example, a manufacturer could bring data from several plants into one consistent model in MDE, then compare equipment performance across sites or build a model that predicts downtime.
MDE is often paired with the Manufacturing Connection Engine (MCE). MCE connects to equipment and collects the data; MDE processes, contextualizes, and stores it.
